Puppy vs. Dog

There are many advantages to adopting an adult dog instead of a puppy. Here are just a few:

  • Many shelter dogs are already housetrained

  • Many shelter dogs have already lived with children

  • Adult dogs are easier to train than young puppies

  • Dogs are generally more predictable

  • Dogs mature out of their "teenage phase" until they are often two years old

  • You are taking a stand against the pet overpopulation crisis and saving an animal!

Brandy

Look at that smile! Brandy is living at the James River Humane Society in Jamestown. She's a large dog in her senior years.

Information from her bio on PetFinder: Brandy is a senior at about ten years old but she doesn't show it. Being an older gal that does require a few extra vet visits but for all the love this girl is going to give you it's worth it! She does have one small problem and that is she likes her opinion heard but if you tell her to be quiet she usually listens.
